Heartworm Antigen Kit Product Description

Heartworm Antigen Kit is designed to detect heartworm antigen in whole blood or serum of dogs and cats, and is used for screening and diagnosis of heartworm disease in dogs and cats.
Heartworm disease is a worm-mediated disease, a blood parasitic disease caused by canine heartworm and runaway filarial parasite, the main symptoms are circulatory disorders, respiratory difficulties, anaemia and so on. Heartworms are a type of canine filarial parasite belonging to the family Filariaceae, genus Malariales, and are elongated fans that can reach 30 cm in length. Heartworm is transmitted through mosquito bites and can infect dogs and cats of any age. Adult heartworm parasites are found in the right heart and pulmonary artery of dogs and cats, and the larvae bred by female heartworms will enter the circulatory system of dogs and cats. The symptoms are not obvious at the beginning of the disease and can be easily overlooked. Once the adult heartworm develops and enters the heart and lungs of the cat, the cat’s cardiopulmonary function will be damaged, resulting in a series of lesions, and the vena cava syndrome is the most serious manifestation of heartworm infection.

[Reaction Principle

Heartworm antigen kit is used for the detection of Heartworm antigen in whole blood or serum of dogs and cats by rapid immunochromatographic technique. After dropping the diluted sample into the spiking well, if HW antigen is present in the sample, it will specifically bind to the colloidal gold-labelled recombinant protein, forming a complex that will move together along the chromatographic membrane and be captured by the HW antibody encapsulated on the membrane, which will be displayed as a burgundy line on the detection line (T). If there is no HW antigen in the sample, no visible line will form at the T position. This C line should be coloured regardless of negative or positive results, otherwise the result is judged invalid.

Usage

【Sample Requirements

This kit is only suitable for testing whole blood or serum samples from dogs and cats (haemolysis and hyperlipidaemia samples cannot be used).
If the sample can not be detected in time, the diluted sample can be stored at 2-8℃ for 1 day, and the whole blood sample can be stored at 2-8℃ for 3 days, do not freeze.
【Test Method

Before use, you need to return the test card and dilution solution to room temperature and read the instructions of the kit carefully.
Use whole blood samples from dogs and cats, and let them stand for 30 minutes to precipitate or centrifuge to separate out the serum for spare.
Tear open the foil pouch of the test card, take out the test card and place it on a flat, clean table.
Using a pipette, add 1 drop of whole blood or serum to the sample well, then add 2 drops of diluent, start the timer and wait for results.
Wait 10-15 minutes at room temperature for the test result to be read; results after 20 minutes are invalid.
Note: The reading time is carried out at room temperature 15-30°C. If the temperature is lower than 15°C, the reading time should be extended appropriately; if the temperature is higher than 30°C, the reading time should be shortened appropriately.

【Cautions

The reagents provided with this product are for this test only, please read the instructions carefully before the test.
Expired, broken or contaminated aluminium foil pouches should not be used.
The product should be restored to room temperature before use and used within 1 hour after opening to avoid moisture.
Avoid contact with the spiking hole on the test card and the chromatographic membrane at the test window during use of the product.
The samples tested may be potentially infectious and the waste after the test should be regarded as contaminants and disposed of properly in accordance with relevant local regulations.
