How to prevent the dengue virus?

Class Product news 00
  1. Control the source of infection:
    • Case monitoring and isolation: In dengue – endemic areas, epidemic monitoring should be strengthened to detect and diagnose cases in a timely manner. Once a patient is diagnosed with dengue fever, isolation treatment should be carried out immediately to prevent contact with others and further spread of the virus. Generally, dengue patients are highly contagious from 1 day before the onset of the disease to 5 days after, and strict isolation is required during this period. As for sub – clinical infections (people who are infected with the virus but have no symptoms), they should also be monitored and managed because they can also spread the virus.
    • Management of inbound personnel: Since dengue fever is more prevalent in some tropical and subtropical regions, quarantine and health monitoring should be strengthened for people entering from these areas, especially those from high – incidence areas. If people with suspected dengue symptoms such as fever, headache, and rash are found, timely screening and diagnosis should be carried out.
  2. Cut off the route of transmission:
    • Mosquito prevention and elimination:
      • Eliminate mosquito breeding grounds: Mosquitoes need water for growth and reproduction, so indoor and outdoor stagnant water should be cleaned up in a timely manner. For example, regularly change the water in vases and the trays under flowerpots to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs; dredge sewers to prevent water accumulation; clean up items that are easy to accumulate water, such as tires and plastic films piled up in the open.
      • Use mosquito – repellent products: Install screens, screen doors, and mosquito nets indoors to prevent mosquitoes from entering. At the same time, using mosquito – repellent incense, electric mosquito – repellent liquid, mosquito – killing aerosol and other mosquito – repellent and mosquito – killing products can also effectively reduce the number of mosquitoes. When engaging in outdoor activities, try to wear long – sleeved clothes and long pants, and apply mosquito repellent to exposed skin areas.
    • Avoid mosquito bites: Try to avoid going out during the peak activity periods of mosquitoes (early morning and dusk), and avoid going to places with a high density of mosquitoes, such as grasslands, woods, and riverbanks. If it is necessary to go to these places, protective measures should be strengthened.
  3. Protect the susceptible population:
    • Strengthen personal protection: Maintain good personal hygiene habits, wash hands, take baths, and change clothes frequently. At the same time, strengthen physical exercise to enhance physical fitness and improve the body’s immunity.
    • Vaccination (in specific regions): Currently, dengue vaccines are available in some regions, but the protective effects and application scope of the vaccines may vary. In dengue – endemic areas, people who meet the vaccination conditions can consult local medical institutions, learn about relevant information of the vaccines, and choose whether to vaccinate according to their own situations.
