Feline Calicivirus Antigen Rapid Test Kit (FCV-Ag) Product Description

Feline Calicivirus (FCV) belongs to the family Cuprioviridae and genus Cupriovirus. The virus reproduces in the brain plasma, sometimes in a crystalline or bead-like arrangement. The virus is resistant to lipid solvents (ether, chloroform, and deoxycholine salts); inactivated at pH 3, stable at pH 4-5; inactivated at 50 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. The main manifestations are upper respiratory signs, i.e., depression, plasma and mucous rhinorrhea, conjunctivitis, stomatitis, tracheitis, and bronchitis with biphasic fever. Feline cupripoxvirus infection is a frequent disease in cats with high morbidity and low mortality. This kit is used for the detection of feline cupripovirus antigen in cat ocular, nasal and oral secretions.
[Reaction Principle

Rapid immunochromatographic assay for the detection of feline cupripoxvirus antigen. A sample of feline ocular, nasal and oral secretions is added to the spiking well and then moved along the chromatographic membrane with the colloidal gold-labeled anti-FCV monoclonal antibody. If FCV antigen is present in the sample, it binds to the antibody on the detection line (T) and appears in burgundy color. If FCV antigen is not present in the sample, no color reaction occurs.
[Product Performance Indicators

Sensitivity ≥95
Specificity ≥97.5%
Precision: False negative and false positive results within a batch should be no more than one respectively; the coloration of the test line and the control line between the three batch numbered test strips (cards) between batches should be uniform and consistent, and there should be no more than one result with uneven coloration between batches.
Stability: 2-30 ℃ unopened validity of 2 years
[Storage conditions and expiration date

Store at 2-30℃, valid for 24 months.

How to use Feline Cupripovirus Antigen Kit

[Sample Requirements

This kit is only suitable for testing cat eye, nose and mouth secretion samples.
The test sample is collected fresh and put into the dilution solution immediately, and the diluted sample should be tested as soon as possible within 1 hour.
If it can not be detected in time, the diluted sample can be stored at 2-8℃ for 24 hours and -20℃ for 1 month.
[Detection method

Use disposable cotton swabs to collect cat eye, nose and mouth secretion samples. After collection, put the sample into the diluted solution and stir, let it stand for 1min, take out the swabs, tighten the cap and mix it upside down.
Tear open the aluminum foil pouch of the test card, take out the test card, and put it on a flat, clean countertop.
Pipette 3 drops (approx. 80 μl) of the diluted sample into the spiked hole of the test card and wait for the result.
Wait 10-15 minutes at room temperature for the test result to be read, the result is invalid after more than 20 minutes.
Note: The above reading time is carried out at room temperature 15-30℃, if the temperature is lower than 15℃, the reading time should be extended appropriately; if the temperature is higher than 30℃, the reading time should be shortened appropriately.

Interpretation of test results]

A negative test result indicates that the test sample does not contain feline cupripoxvirus antigen, and that feline cupripoxvirus infection cannot be ruled out if the corresponding acute symptoms are present.
A positive test result indicates that the sample contains feline cup virus antigen.
Since the feline cup virus vaccine is usually a weak vaccine, it is possible to show a positive reaction due to a momentary increase of the virus in the body during immunization, which disappears after 3-10 days after vaccination. Dogs treated with monoclonal antibodies may show false positives for a prolonged period of time because of the production of secondary antibodies against the monoclonal antibodies.
Invalid test results may be due to a variety of reasons and should be retested.
[Limitations of the assay

This kit can only detect the presence of Feline Cupripoxvirus antigen in the sample being tested.
The results of this kit are for clinical reference only and are not to be used as a basis for diagnosis.
【Precautions】.

Please read the instructions carefully before testing, the various reagents provided in this product are for this test only.
Do not use expired products or products with broken aluminum foil pouches.
If the kit is taken out under low temperature storage, it should be opened after returning to room temperature, and the opened test card should be used as soon as possible to avoid moisture, not more than 1 hour.
Avoid touching the spiking holes on the test card and the chromatography strips at the test window.
Post-test waste should be considered a contaminant and disposed of properly in accordance with local regulations.
