Feline Panleukopenia Virus Antigen test Kit (colloidal gold method)

Intended Use]

Feline distemper, also known as feline panleukopenia and feline infectious enteritis, is an acute high contact infectious disease of cats. Clinical manifestations are mainly characterised by sudden onset of high fever, intractable vomiting, diarrhoea, dehydration, circulatory disorders and rapid reduction of white blood cells. The virus infects domestic cats as well as other felines. Cats of all ages can be infected. In most cases, cats under 1 year of age are susceptible, with an infection rate of up to 70% and a mortality rate of 50% to 60%, and kittens under 5 months of age have a mortality rate of up to 80% to 90%. This kit is used for the detection of feline microvirus antigen in cat faeces and vomit.

Reaction Principle]

Rapid immunochromatographic detection technique for the detection of feline distemper virus antigen. After adding the sample obtained from cat faeces and vomitus to the spiking well, it moves along the chromatographic membrane together with the colloidal gold-labelled anti-FPV monoclonal antibody. If FPV antigen is present in the sample, it binds to the antibody on the detection line (T) and shows a burgundy colour. If FPV antigen is not present in the sample, no colour reaction occurs.

[Test Methods

Use disposable swabs to collect cat faeces and vomit samples. After collection, put the samples into the diluent and stir, let it stand for 1min, take out the swabs, tighten the cap, and mix it upside down.
Tear open the aluminium foil pouch of the test card, take out the test card and put it on a flat, clean countertop.
Pipette 3 drops (approx. 80 μl) of the diluted sample into the spiked hole of the test card and wait for the result.
Wait for 10-15 minutes at room temperature to read the test result, the result is invalid after more than 20 minutes.
Note: The above reading time is carried out at room temperature 15-30℃, if the temperature is lower than 15℃, the reading time should be extended appropriately; if the temperature is higher than 30℃, the reading time should be shortened appropriately.

[Interpretation of test results

A negative test result indicates that there is no feline distemper virus antigen in the test sample. If the corresponding acute symptoms occur, feline distemper virus infection cannot be excluded.
A positive test result indicates that the sample contains distemper virus antigen.
Since the distemper vaccine is usually a weak vaccine, it is possible to show a positive reaction due to a momentary increase of the virus in the body during immunisation, which disappears after 3-10 days after vaccination. Dogs treated with monoclonal antibodies may show false positives for a prolonged period of time because of the production of secondary antibodies against the monoclonal antibodies.
Invalid test results may be due to a variety of reasons and should be retested.
[Limitations of the assay

This kit can only detect the presence of Feline Distemper Virus antigen in the tested sample.
The results of this kit are for clinical reference only and are not to be used as a basis for diagnosis.

Precautions]

Please read the instructions carefully before the test, the various reagents provided with this product are for this test only.
Expired products or products with broken aluminium foil pouches should not be used.
If the kit is taken out under low temperature storage, it should be opened after returning to room temperature, and the opened test card should be used as soon as possible to avoid moisture, not more than 1 hour.
Avoid touching the spiking holes on the test card and the chromatography strips at the test window.
Post-test waste should be considered as a contaminant and disposed of properly in accordance with local regulations.
