Toxoplasma Antigen test Kit (colloidal gold method)

Intended use

Toxoplasma gondii belongs to the smallest and simplest group of parasites called protozoa. Cats and other felines are the final hosts of Toxoplasma gondii, which parasitises the epithelial cells of the small intestine of these animals and forms cysts that are excreted in the faeces, which are ingested by other mammals and birds and become infected and develop into encapsulated cysts in the tissues of their bodies. Cysts and encapsules are different developmental stages of Toxoplasma gondii. However, it can only reproduce asexually in animals other than the final host and cannot disperse its offspring to the outside world. This kit is used to detect Toxoplasma gondii antigen in faeces and rectum of animals.
Reaction principle

Rapid immunochromatographic assay for the detection of Toxoplasma gondii antigen. A sample obtained from the rectum or faeces is added to the spiked wells and then moved along the chromatographic membrane with a colloidal gold-labelled anti-TOXO monoclonal antibody. If TOXO antigen is present in the sample, it binds to the antibody on the detection line and shows a burgundy colour. If TOXO antigen is not present in the sample, no colour reaction occurs.

Storage conditions and expiry date

Store at 2-30°C for 24 months.
Sample requirements

This kit is only suitable for testing animal faecal and rectal samples.
The test sample is collected fresh and put into dilution solution immediately, the diluted sample should be tested as soon as possible within 1 hour.
If timely detection is not possible, diluted samples can be stored at 2-8℃ for 24 hours and -20℃ for 1 month.
Detection method

Use disposable swabs to collect faecal and rectal samples from animals. After collection, the samples should be put into the diluted solution and stirred, rest for 1min, remove the swabs, tighten the cap and mix upside down.
Tear open the aluminium foil pouch of the test card, take out the test card and put it on a flat and clean table.
Pipette 3 drops (approx. 80 μl) of the diluted sample into the spiked hole of the test card and wait for the result.
Wait for 10-15 minutes at room temperature to read the test result, the result is invalid after more than 20 minutes.
Note: The above reading time is carried out at room temperature 15-30℃, if the temperature is lower than 15℃, the reading time should be extended appropriately; if the temperature is higher than 30℃, the reading time should be shortened appropriately.

Interpretation of test results

A negative test result indicates that there is no Toxoplasma gondii antigen in the test sample, and the presence of Toxoplasma gondii infection cannot be excluded if the corresponding acute symptoms occur.
A positive test result indicates the presence of Toxoplasma gondii antigen in the sample.
An invalid test result may be due to a number of reasons and should be retested.
Limitations of the test

This kit can only detect the presence of Toxoplasma gondii antigen in the sample being tested.
The results of this kit are for clinical reference only and are not to be used as a basis for definitive diagnosis.

Precautions

Please read the instructions carefully before the test, the various reagents provided with this product are for this test only.
Expired products or products with broken aluminium foil pouches should not be used.
If the kit is taken out of cold storage, it should be opened after returning to room temperature, and the opened test card should be used as soon as possible to avoid moisture, not more than 1 hour.
Avoid touching the spiking holes on the test card and the chromatography strips at the test window.
Post-test waste should be considered as a contaminant and disposed of properly in accordance with local regulations.
