Grace’s Insect Medium is Grace’s modified Wyatt’s medium
Grace’s Insect Medium is Grace’s modified Wyatt’s medium, which is more chemically similar to insect hemolymph, and was used by Grace to establish the first continuous cell line of insects. Antherea eucalypti cells in Australia, but with the addition of appropriate additives, Grace’s Insect Medium can be used to culture a wide range of insect cells, including those of many squamates and some dipterans.
This product contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts and other ingredients necessary for cell culture of many types of cells, but does not contain proteins, lipids or any growth factors, so this product should be used with serum or serum-free additives.
Grace’s Supplemental Insect Cell Culture Medium was originally designed for cell growth of the Australian White Star Orange Skink Moth (Antherea eucalypti).Grace’s Supplemental Insect Medium is now widely used for the growth of the Grass Covetor Moth cells, Sf9 and Sf21.Sf9 and Sf21 Cells Sf9 and Sf21 cells are routinely used to express recombinant proteins in a baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS).
This product contains hydrolyzed milk protein, yeast powder, L-glutamine, and sodium bicarbonate.Grace’s Supplemental Insect Medium contains hydrolyzed milk protein and yeast powder that are not commonly found in Grace’s Insect Cell Culture Medium (PM152011), and should be used in conjunction with serum or serum-free supplements.
