The following is how to use an ovulation test strip for testing

I. Preparation before testing

  1. Determine the testing time
    • For women with regular menstrual cycles, testing usually starts on the 10th day of the menstrual cycle. For example, if the menstrual cycle is 28 days, testing should start on the 10th day from the onset of menstruation. If the menstrual cycle is irregular, testing can start earlier according to one’s own situation or by consulting a doctor to determine the appropriate start time.
  2. Select an appropriate time period
    • It is best to test at the same relatively fixed time every day, and it is recommended to choose a time between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Because during this period, the concentration of human urine is relatively stable, and the level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in it can more accurately reflect the actual situation, helping to obtain reliable test results.
  3. Prepare a clean container
    • Prepare a clean, dry, and non – polluted container for collecting urine. Make sure the container is clean before use to avoid affecting the test results.

II. Testing operation steps

  1. Take out the test strip
    • Carefully take out the ovulation test strip from the packaging, being careful not to touch the detection area of the test strip to prevent the test strip from being contaminated by sweat, grease, or other substances on the hands, which may affect the test results.
  2. Collect urine
    • Collect urine with the prepared container. If too much urine is collected, do not let the urine exceed the maximum immersion line specified on the test strip during testing.
  3. Conduct the test
    • Immerse the end of the test strip with an arrow mark vertically in the urine, paying attention to the immersion depth. Usually, take it out after soaking for 3 – 5 seconds.
    • After taking out the test strip, place it flat on a clean, dry, and horizontal surface, such as a desktop, to avoid the test strip from tilting or coming into contact with other pollutants.

III. Waiting and result reading

  1. Waiting time
    • After placing the test strip, it is necessary to wait for a period of time to observe the results. Generally, wait for 10 – 30 minutes, and do not move or touch the test strip during this period.
  2. Result reading
    • Negative result: If only one control line appears on the test strip, it indicates that the LH level in the urine is low and the ovulation peak has not been reached.
    • Positive result: When two lines appear on the test strip and the color of the test line is similar to or darker than that of the control line, it means that the LH level has increased and ovulation may occur within 1 – 2 days.
    • Strong positive result: If the color of the test line is much darker than that of the control line, it is a strong positive result, indicating that ovulation is very likely to occur within 24 – 48 hours.

IV. Post – testing treatment

  1. Record the results
    • Record the test results, including the test date, time, and result type (negative, positive, or strong positive). This helps to track one’s ovulation cycle. Especially for women who are preparing for pregnancy or paying attention to their menstrual cycles, recording the results can provide data support for subsequent analysis.
  2. Dispose of the test strip
    • After testing, the test strip can be disposed of as general household waste, but be careful to avoid polluting the environment with the test strip.
