iClean® Saliva Collection Card
The following are instructions and precautions for using the iClean® Saliva Collection Card:
How to Use
Preparation: Avoid eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum for 30 minutes prior to the collection of the saliva sample to ensure the quality of the saliva sample. It is also important to ensure that the environment is clean and hygienic to prevent contamination of the sample.
Saliva collection: The subject relaxes his/her cheeks and gently rubs them for about 30 seconds to produce enough saliva, which is then gently spat into the collection port of the card, taking care to avoid excessive foaming, until the amount of saliva collected reaches the mark indicated on the card.
Assisted Collection: For special populations that are unable to spit on their own, such as young children, a disposable DNA collection nylon flocked swab can be used. Put the swab into the mouth at the base of the tongue to absorb the saliva, then put the swab into the corresponding position of the collection card, and make the saliva fully transferred to the collection card by squeezing and crushing.
Sample Preservation: After collection, add the preservation solution according to the instructions on the card and mix the saliva with the preservation solution to stabilize the DNA in the sample, then seal the card properly and place it in a matching package or container.
Precautions
Strictly follow the instructions: When using the iClean® Saliva Collection Card, it is important to carefully read and strictly follow the instruction manual that came with the product, including the preparations before collection, precautions to be taken during the collection process, and the conditions for storage and transportation of the samples, etc., in order to ensure that the saliva samples collected meet the requirements of the assay.
Preventing sample contamination: During the collection process, care should be taken to keep the collection card and the surrounding environment clean to avoid contamination of the saliva sample by external impurities, bacteria or other pollutants, which may affect the accuracy of the test results. In addition, when filling in the information of the collected person, etc., it is also necessary to prevent ink and other substances from contaminating the sample area.
Pay attention to the storage conditions: Although the samples of the iClean® Saliva Collection Card have good stability at room temperature, they still need to be stored and transported in accordance with the specified temperature ranges, and avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures, humidity, or extreme cold in order to prevent deterioration of the samples or degradation of the DNA.
Timely delivery: Saliva samples should be delivered for testing as soon as possible to ensure the timeliness and reliability of the results. If this is not possible, the sample should be stored properly and the test should be completed within the specified time frame.
