How to standardize genetic testing sampling

How to standardize genetic testing sampling

Genetic testing can diagnose diseases and can also be used to predict disease risks. In recent years, what has been very exciting is the development of predictive genetic testing. The use of genetic testing technology can detect the risk of disease before it occurs, and prevent it early or take effective intervention measures.

There are two methods of genetic testing sampling, one is oral swab sampling, and the other is saliva sampling.

Sampling steps for oral swabs:

Note: Do not touch the sampling swab with your hands or other objects at any time. Please rinse your mouth with water before collection. Please send the sample to the appraisal as soon as possible after the sample is dry!

1. Prepare a sterilized medical swab. Before sampling, rinse your mouth with clean water, then hold the swab in one hand, stretch into the mouth, and wipe the mucosa from the inner oral cavity more than 10 times, take out the swab, and dry it in the shade in a clean place;

2. Collect the second swab in the same way, and each person must sample at least three swabs;

3. Please don’t forget to mark the samples. Pay attention to placing different samples separately and not touching each other. You can put them in different paper envelopes or insurance films, and mark them clearly.

Saliva collection steps:

Saliva collection is a collection method that has only emerged in recent years. This method is more convenient and faster, and achieves painless and non-invasive collection. The detection effect is the same as that of oral swab sampling.

1. Oral cleaning: explain the sampling process and precautions, ask customers to rinse their mouths with water, and do not eat, drink, smoke, drink or chew gum within half an hour;

2. Before spitting out saliva, relax your cheeks and rub it gently for 30 seconds to produce saliva;

3. Gently spit the saliva secreted in the oral cavity into the oval collection port of the saliva collector. When collecting saliva, you should try to avoid excessive foam;

4. Collect saliva until the layered interface between the saliva in the collection tube and the upper foam reaches the scale line shown in 2ml;

5. Evenly buckle the cover of the collector with preservation solution onto the oval collection port. There will be a slight click when buckling, and the preservation solution evenly flows into the collection tube, indicating that the cover is buckled, otherwise, you need to gently click Open the cover of the collector carefully, and then buckle it evenly again until the preservation solution evenly flows into the sampling tube;

6. Gently shake the DNA saliva collector to make the cell storage stable liquid flow into the sampling tube more safely;

7. Confirm that the layered interface between the liquid in the sampling tube and the upper foam reaches the scale line shown in 4ml;

8. Confirm that the sampling is completed without error.
