Before Sampling

• Check the Integrity of the Product: Carefully examine whether the packaging of the sampler is intact and check for any damage, air leakage, etc. If the packaging is incomplete, the sampler may be contaminated, which could affect the sampling results. In such cases, a new sampler should be used instead. Meanwhile, check the sampler itself to ensure that components such as the sampling tip and sampling rod are free from deformation, damage, and are firmly connected.
• Confirm the Expiration Date: Check the production date and expiration date of the sampler and avoid using expired products. Expired samplers may affect the sampling effect and sample quality due to material aging and other reasons.
• Understand the Sampling Object and Environment: Clearly define the purpose, object, and environment of sampling, and select appropriate sampling methods and sites according to the actual situation. For example, when sampling from a human body, it is necessary to understand the health condition of the sampled person, whether there are any special diseases or allergic histories, etc., to avoid sampling under unsuitable circumstances.
• Prepare Auxiliary Tools: Prepare necessary auxiliary tools according to the sampling requirements, such as sterile gloves, masks, goggles, and disinfection supplies, to ensure that the sampling process is safe and standardized.

During Sampling

• Standardize the Operation Technique: Operate the sampler according to the user manual. Hold the sampler in the correct way and avoid the sampling tip from touching irrelevant items to prevent contamination. For example, when performing a throat swab sampling, insert the sampler into the appropriate position in the throat and gently wipe it, avoiding excessive force that could damage the mucous membrane.
• Control the Sampling Force and Depth: According to different sampling sites, reasonably control the sampling force and depth. When collecting a nasal swab, pay attention to the depth of insertion into the nasal cavity and the strength of rotation. It is necessary to ensure that enough samples are collected while avoiding excessive irritation or damage to the nasal cavity.
• Avoid Cross-contamination: During the sampling process, strictly adhere to the principle of aseptic operation. The sampler should not touch other non-sampling items or areas that have already been sampled. If multiple subjects need to be sampled, replace the sampler or conduct strict disinfection treatment to prevent cross-infection.

After Sampling

• Sample Preservation and Transportation: Place the sampled sampler into the corresponding preservation solution or preservation container according to the sample preservation requirements and seal it properly. During transportation, use a professional transport box to ensure that the sample is in appropriate temperature and environmental conditions to prevent sample leakage, deterioration, or contamination.
• Medical Waste Disposal: The used sampler belongs to medical waste and should be placed into a dedicated medical waste collection container in accordance with the relevant regulations on medical waste disposal. It should be disposed of by professional personnel in a centralized manner. It is strictly prohibited to discard it randomly to avoid environmental pollution and the spread of diseases.
• Recording and Labeling: Record the sampling information in a timely manner, including the sampling time, location, subject, and sampling type, etc., and make clear labels on the sampler or the preservation container for subsequent traceability and query.
